Any news on Valencia as of yet?
Terrible luck for him and us. Sounds like it might have been pretty serious. What actually happened? I only had BBC text updates to go on as I'm on holiday.

Update:
ennervalencia1 - I would like to thank everyone for the support and the affection shown on this difficult moment. Thanks God, today I received great news as I won't need surgery, all the best !

I think we can expect a ruptured cruciate by the way he twisted his Knee, anything less will be lucky, and we don't get much luck with injuries

Re: Any news on Valencia as of yet?
West Ham United forward Enner Valencia picked up a serious injury in a Europa League qualifier on Thursday.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has admitted to The Sun that Enner Valencia has suffered a serious knee injury.

The 25-year-old forward picked up the problem during the Hammers’ Europa League third qualifying round first-leg tie against Astra Giurgiu away from home on Thursday.

Valencia was taken out of the pitch on a stretcher, as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Bilic has revealed the extent of the injury to the Ecuador international and has admitted his frustrations.

“It looks serious but we won’t know for sure until he has a scan,” the Croatian told The Sun.

“He will have one in the morning and we can only hope it’s not very bad. I think Enner twisted his knee and I am worried.

“It’s the biggest reason why I’m not happy. I’m not happy with the result, of course, but that is the main thing because it doesn’t look good. I’m disappointed and it wasn’t a great night.”

Big blow for West Ham United

According to The Sun, Valencia may have damaged his cruciate ligament and could be out for months.

If that is the case, then it will be a huge blow to West Ham and their chances of a top-eight finish in the Premier League this season.

The 2014 summer signing was one of the Hammers’ best players during the 2014-15 campaign.

The former Pachuca star scored four goals and created 17 chances in 32 Premier League appearances for the London outfit last season.

With the new Premier League season so close, West Ham fans will be worried with the injury to Valencia.

Soon as he went down lookedcreally bad.
He never moved and he had to have oxygen on the stretcher.

Re: Any news on Valencia as of yet?
If it's long term, this is terrible news. All of a sudden we have only Sakho as a fit striker we can rely on. This leaves us needing to buy or loan two as a matter of urgency. Zarate and Maiga are not the best alternatives.

The injury curse strikes again!

It's an abosolute joke, we could sign 20 players and you can bet that about 15 of them would get serious injuries.

Re: Any news on Valencia as of yet?
Bilic seems pessimistic. He knows all about serious injuries,he had one at Everton that eventually finished his playing career. Damn bad luck, but it just emphasises our need for a decent striker to come in,not useless non-scoring loans for fucks sake.

This may sway them to push the boat out on a proven goal scorer.

Silver linings and all that.

Re: Any news on Valencia as of yet?
In fairness we have Zarate who is a striker, and looks to be playing pretty well at the moment. He may be our 4th choice striker...but I'd say as 4th choice that's a pretty good striker to have.

1st Sakho
2nd Carroll
3rd Valencia
4th Zarate
5th Maiga
6th Lee

That currently looks the pecking order, and the problem obviously now is that we only have 2 of the top four fit.

I can understand a loan until Carroll is fit being needed.

Biggest problem with losing Valencia is we lose that versatility he provides...if we do want to play 4-2-3-1 and he is one of the 3, then we're going to struggle.

Last night it looked like we played 4-3-1-2...if that's to be the formation, then I'd agree we definitely need another striker. Otherwise we need a MIrallas who is versatile and can play either up front or in the row of 3 behind.

Re: Any news on Valencia as of yet?
i'm not his biggest fan but this is a big blow, and as Bilic said the most disappointing thing about last night. The worrying thing with long term injuries is you can never be sure if they will com back the same player, particuarly a player that relies heavily on his pace. A real cunt.

I done my cruciate. It's fucking agony.

But Valencia will have top quality support and should get back fully (if it is cruciate only).

Could have really seen him emerge this season with this better style of football. Typical West Ham eh. Fortunes always hiding!

Re: Any news on Valencia as of yet?
stubbo - so fro that list, we are left with Sakho and Zarate realistically. Seems well known that Sakho has an ongoing back problem. Ridiculous imo if we go into the season without another recognised goalscorer. But I'm doubtful we will spend. Loans only I reckon

Unfortunately stubbo if we have to rely on the last three to score goals in the premier to win matches we are shagged.

Did look bad when he went down, his knee looked like it bent almost too far. Can only hope he got lucky and didn't do anything too long term. I doubt that though.

Re: Any news on Valencia as of yet?
I have torn both my cruciates and had the ACL replacement surgery twice.

Even a professional athlete cannot recover fully in 6 months from that op.

It's an absolute bastard, especially if you have the evil patella tendon version, which is what all physically active people are advised to do.

Michael Owen was out for almost a year after doing his ACL at the 2006 WorldCup.....so yes, we need another striker.
